Arts London_CHINA NOW – Three Degrees of Separation
Artist: Voonpow Bartlett, Neil Stewart, Erica Tan
At: Chelsea Future Space, London
For these three artists, considering China is not so much a case of China now but China everyday, or China always – a slow burning, deeper contemplation. The work of each artist has for a long time been concerned with the notion of a dialogue or engagement with China. This series of video works enables the artists to reveal their personal relationships to place and to explore the common ground or disparate nature of their experiences.  Click here for more information.
China Incidental
China Incidental
Artist: Yan Jun, Zhong, Lin Zhiying, Zhang Liming
At: Southbank Centre, London and Chinese Arts Centre, Manchester
China Incidental is a sound installation project in two parts that evokes moments of everyday life in contemporary China transporting them to the UK. The foyer of the Royal Festival Hall will see sounds emerge from three pairs of speakers to create a fluctuating, unpredictable real-world mix of sounds that vary dependant on time of day. Manchester will present slices of contemporary China, which are not seen but heard. This ground-breaking project curated by Matthias Kispert, sees you follow a headphone walk that links sound recordings dislocated from their original surroundings in China re-routed into the ears of listeners as they wander throughout Manchester.  Click here for more information.
