CHINA ART NOW will present a wide cross-section of the very best of contemporary Chinese art. The art trail aims to challenge perceptions about Chinese culture and facilitate debate around ideas of national identity; to strengthen ties between the British and Chinese artistic communities and to embrace their similarities and differences; to take art to people across the UK in their every day environments, reaching both the layman and the specialist; to engage with the biggest phenomenon in today’s art market that is seeing Zhang Xiao Gang outselling market leaders such as Damien Hirst; and to be part of the current boom that sees thousands regularly attending art galleries in their leisure time.
CHINA ART NOW will make the art of today accessible and captivating by placing it in both conventional and distinctly different locations. CHINA ART NOW will feature over 400 individual pieces of work nationwide, linking regional museums along with major institutions such as the Saatchi Gallery, the British Museum and the Serpentine Gallery.
