For Voonpow Bartlett, Neil Stewart, and Erica Tan, considering China is not so much a case of CHINA NOW but China everyday, or China always - a slow burning, deeper contemplation. The work of each artist has for a long time been concerned with the notion of a dialogue, or engagement with China, this exhibition affords these artists the chance to reveal their personal relationships to place and to explore the common ground or disparate nature of their experience.

At present the artists propose a series of video works to be shown on flat screen TVs, edited footage of journeys in China; filmed models based on ancient Chinese literature and art - very different approaches though perhaps revealing shared themes. The artists are also considering an invitation to other artists, either to artists still based in China or to Chinese artists based in the UK. If possible, the invited artist/s will be selected to act as a link between Bartlett, Stewart and Tan.

It is expected that these video works will also form part of an evening of screenings.
