Moorland Productions presents a live global art machine,. A collaboration between Kenneth G. Hay, Seetha A, Andrew Kelly and Richard Taylor.
Linked via video web link, artists in Leeds, UK and Xiamen,China will interact through a formulated art machine to unite Eastern and Western practice. The event is held as part of Andrew Kelly's solo exhibition (THIS) Apparent Nothing at The Chinese European Art Centre, Xiamen.
Artists shall respond to certain instructions within specific parameters. Through formulated exercises, the idea of proportion within space will translate to artists of any origin to link perceptual/architectural space with conceptual space, creating interactive happenings, drawings, video pieces and more. Language shall not dictate nor hinder proceedings.
The aim is to identify and connect the distinctions between British and Chinese art practice. Encouraging members of the public to participate will be a core part of the formulae generated. The exciting aspect of the event will be in the spontaneity of the work created. XTOL (Xiamen To Leeds) is creating a basic structure to produce possibilities to witness exhilarating moments of creativity happening on two sides of the world, unified through art.
Video work from Kenneth G. Hay and Seetha A shall also be screened. Entitled "Miracle". The One Minute Foundation (NL) selected “Miracle” for their promotional DVD for the Chinese Olympics. Hay’s work is the only video representing the UK along with 52 other countries.
