CHINA NOW, Britain’s biggest Chinese culture festival, today launches an education programme to teach Mandarin to schoolchildren. The scheme is backed by HSBC, law firm Norton Rose and the British Council. Younger pupils will learn how to count to 10 while older students will learn the language to a basic level. By 2040 China is expected to have the largest economy in the world.
